O Govinda... Yes, this is again about our art studio building. Thank You so much
we stayed at least as long so that we all could participate in
the Open Studio Days in our neighbourhood that would be known
for its many artists staying and working there. For myself this event had
not been unsuccessful at all and although I have the smallest studio
in the building, I could receive eight people altogether simultaneously
and about 200 people visited my studio during the one day I was there and
even they were all sincerely interested, but also even I had sold some work
so I can create new work. So really thank You so very much. :-) But now,
as we somehow did not have to leave last September, the owner of the
building does not give in yet and he wants us still
out coming January and break down the entire place, which was originally
a place of studios for needlework and each space is unique, one does
not build like that these days any more, and so all our studios are each very
different yet all with high ceilings, beautiful old windows with beautiful
old locks in the form of a curl, a building with a history yet not good enough for
being a so-called monument, but so the owner of the building wants
to change all those very rare studios into what he names "luxury studios",
whatever such means..., and then he wants to have a much higher price,
so I doubt whether any artist could afford any such "luxury studio", I guess none;
besides: all wealthy artists do not need the center of a city like
Amsterdam at all and they can work and live wherever they like best.
Also it feels he is speculating with the building; besides he is one of
the most wealthy, if not the wealthiest, of all estate business people of Amsterdam
and he owns really a lot of buildings (throughout Amsterdam). Now we try to
buy it (yes: we..., although we do not know how), but then... the owner
said he does not want to earn money on artists..., O Govinda, yet he wants more
rent from us although he never does do anything for the building and
we already do not pay a low price at all. Several people said
when they had visited my studio during the recent Open Studio Days
that my studio looked like an 'art installation', which it in fact is and it could
be an alternative though be it a very small museum... My studio is exactly
in between another building and stairs in 'our' building, so who knows this owner
cannot break my studio down if he would unfortunately succeed in having us
moved out and if he would unfortunately succeed in breaking down the entire
place... All people renting a studio in 'our' building are artists and art related
creative entrepreneurs who do their work to make a modest living and frequently
groups of people coming from anywhere in the country can follow several workshops,
and besides all of us working in that building know eachother and we do not work in
an atmosphere of competition but in togetherness as we work and offer far more a variety in difference
(unlike "variety indifference") of disciplines in the arts: from music to film and video, painting,
photography, drawing and writing, installation art, felt making..., and what more,
yet we are all working in this same building in a neighbourhood that is known as a
neighbourhood that would have many artists, but so this owner of
this building seems to want to change all this as he wants us to move out with
the sole purpose of money, really only money, so not for any other reason
and it all but lacks any vision further: only money. So... O Govinda, as we seem
to be the only coherent group of artists together in one building left over in that
neighbourhood, please help us with whatever Miracle to happen that would
withdraw this "superficial greed ego world will" of the owner of the building
(but so: he did not create the building himself, he bought it for a for him once low price, and besides:
to him 'our' building is only a means of speculation, nothing else), but so please help just only if
this would be truly the best, so we could stay in 'our' building just as long as we would need,
as this place is good for us (and we created really only good vibes in this building), O Govinda,
or please help so we could even buy the place through some... Most Miraculous Way
(as I do not know how else we could ever buy this building and make the place our own) or...
help to change the mind of the owner so he will not bother us anymore: if he only knew
how grateful we would be also to him when he would let us stay without bugging us... and how good this would feel to him. Until now all options of other buildings for us turned out to be fraudulent, by the way, and places for artists, like in a building in a for us art friendly neighbourhood, which is not excluded from the center..., are scarce if still to be found anywhere at all... O Govinda: You know my place there in that building. Just please help only if that is the best. I know to "the worldmind" all content of this typing here is nothing but a fragile balloon dream; nothing but a fragile balloon dream...: naive, irrelevant, foolish...
