MEDITATION AND JAPA
The mind keeps wll when engaged in work. And yet Japa, meditation, prayer also are specially needed. You must at least sit down once in the morning and again in the evening. That acts as a rudder to a boat. When one sitsin meditation in the evening, one gets a chance to think of what one has done -good or bad-during the whole day.Next one should compare the states of one'smind in the preceding day and the present...Unless you meditate in the mornings and evenings along with work, how can you know what you are actually doing?

The Fourteen Secrets for Serious Meditators
1.Create your sacred space.Keep it clean and uplifting.
2.The only bad meditation is the one you skip.Use the power of habit.A strong meditation habit will carry you forward with less effort.
3.Decide on your meditation subject or goal and stick to it.
4.Meditation is hard work. The more effort you give to it, then more results you get back from it.Meditate when it's not easy. That is when the most progress takes place.
5.Learn to work past of distractions.
6.Nurture curiosity;make your innersearch engaging.
7.Perfect your technique, but work equally hard to nurture the right spirit. It's the spirit/will that matters most.
8.Move from each meditation to a positive external activity, and dorm a positive project into meditation.Let the external energies impel your seeking, and let your inner discoveries inform your outer life.
9.Meditate in the morning before you read your e-mail, open the newspaper or turn on the TV.
10.Become what you seek to experience. The quality of your meditations is a reflection of the state of your nervous system and the purities of your karma.
11.Keep working on yourself between meditations.
12.Progress is cyclical, like a spiral. There are ups and downs, but the trajectory overall is always up.Enjoy the days when the wind is in your sails, and work on the other days extra hard.
13.Keep expectations realistic and achievable.
14.Write down your insights when they come, bringing them into words to impress the subconscious.

Meditation is very beneficial, calms our mind gives us lot of peace. There are so many types of meditation but i like to do it by concentrating on my breathing, relaxing and silences the mind.
Mani kutty Comment by Mani kutty on October 18, 2008 at 12:47pm
One way of thinking of the highest form of devotion is as the uninterrupted meditation of God alone. In the popular understanding of the word, meditation refers to concentrating on an object and through that object reaching a higher state of consciousness, but this is not the correct approach to meditation.True meditation is meditation on God and only on God.Therefore, meditation and devotion are really the same;both are the process of concentrating on God to the exclusion of everything else, thinking only of Him.Without such meditation or devotion it is impossible to realize the constant presence of God everywhere,in everything and thereby gain true spiritual knowledge.
You long to enjoy the fruit, but you will not be able to get it without first having the flower.First comes the blossom, then comes the fruit.Devotion is like flower.Without first developing the flower of unshakable love for God and allowing it to blossom forth, it is impossible for you to acquire the fruit of spiritual wisdom. The flower of love may express itself in different ways.
