In continuation to SUPREETHA " Lets celebrate only DIWALI...".lets ponder over:
* Gift-exchange on Deepawali is how far essential ?
* Gift buying & distributing does not consume the festive time spirit?
* Too many wanted and unwanted gifts - what use?
* All this has become a fashion, custom or mere formality?
* A business like arrangement?
This deepawali, lets not make a public display of our regard for each other by exchanging gifts.
This will not undermine our love, rather it will underline that we continue to be in each other's thoughts and prayers without being demonstrative about it or indulging in exhibitionism.
Deepawali can be celebrated by ensuring the advent of Lord Rama into our hearts, minds & souls.
Grateful thanks for your co-operation in making Deepawali Gift-Free & removing ignorance, darkness, ego, selfishness and seprateness by lighting the lamp of love.

Namastey, Gr8 thought! I believe in the same. We are following the golden rule, especially after a discussion with you long time back. And I try my level best to educate my acquaintances to follow this light of joy. It's more peaceful. It allows all of us to enjoy the festival better. Saves our time and energy wasted in collecting and distributing the gifts.

Deepa Valli - essentially means the Pathway of Light! That you have seen and feel the Light- of moving away from the material to the spiritual is indeed a great CELEBRATION in itself!
By all means celebrate the Holy Festival in its most auspicious manner - but do not forget the duty of Seva to fellow Man - 'to give to the needy' - be it food, books or love. This will usher JOY unto the 'Giver' as well as the Receiver ! Sai Ram
